Where to Find Judicial Opinion Excerpts for Expert Witnesses in the CI People Directory?

This article explains how to find, view, and filter Judicial Opinion Excerpts within the CI Directory. Judicial Opinion Excerpts are condensed passages from court opinions in which a judge discusses an expert witness, often addressing admissibility, credibility, or the expert’s role in a case.  These excerpts are sourced from Daubert Tracker, the largest database of expert witness challenges, and reflect judicial gatekeeping decisions involving expert methodology and qualifications.

Tactical Rundown: 

Step 1: Open Expert Profile 

Locate and open the profile of the expert you are researching.

Step 2: Navigate to Expert Challenges 

Click the Expert Challenges tab within the expert’s profile.

Step 3: Apply the Daubert Tracker Filter 

Under Filters, select Daubert Tracker.

You will now see the expert’s challenges sourced from Daubert Tracker. 

If a Judicial Opinion Excerpt is available, “(Excerpt Available)” will appear next to the name of the judge who authored the opinion.

Click (Excerpt Available) to view the corresponding Judicial Opinion Excerpt.

Step 4: View All Opinion Excerpts for the Expert 

To view all Judicial Opinion Excerpts associated with the expert, turn on the Opinion Excerpts toggle located in the bottom-left corner of the page.

A condensed list of excerpts will appear.

Click the case title to expand and view additional details.

Step 5: Sort Results (Optional) 

Use the dropdown on the right-hand side to reorder the excerpts as needed.
