              Solution Overview

This article explains how to search for people who meet specific criteria directly within your firm's AI LLM using the CI MCP Server. The CI MCP Server enables users to search for, retrieve, and filter CI profiles by criteria such as: location, role, credentials, discipline, and data availability (e.g., challenge history, judicial opinions), returning either a list of matching candidates or a narrowed, confirmed match with full supporting detail.

Note: While this example will be in Claude for demonstrative purposes, the functionalities and use cases described are not exclusive to Claude — they apply across any compatible LLM platform.

              Tactical Rundown

              1. Open your enterprise LLM and confirm the Courtroom Insight connector is enabled
              2. Ask your LLM to use CI when asking a natural-language question ([about a specific person] / [describing your search criteria])
              3. Review the returned results
              4. Ask a follow-up question if needed

Important: The CI MCP Server can only surface CI proprietary data and your firm’s internal data (if enabled), but it does not surface data from external integrations partners. If your question requires integration partner data, the MCP will inform you of the restriction and will instead provide a link to the CI profile, or to the relevant integration partner case link so you can look it up directly.

Step 1: Confirm the Connector Is Enabled

Before asking your LLM to find people matching your criteria, make sure the Courtroom Insight connector is turned on for your conversation. In the Claude interface, check the connectors or tools menu and confirm Courtroom Insight appears as active. If it is not listed, it may need to be added or reauthorized by your workspace administrator.

                      Step 2: Ask Your Question

Once the connector is confirmed as connected, you can ask your LLM a natural language question directly. Example prompts include:

                      • "I want to find a mediator who is also a lawyer who is currently at JAMS and is located in Illinois."
                      • "Can you find an expert witness located in Houston, Texas who has expert challenge data in Courtroom Insight?"
                      • "Find judges in the Northern District of California with experience in patent cases."
                      • "Show me mediators with a background in employment law."
                      • "Which experts in [discipline] have testimony that's been excluded in the past?"
                      • Header Information: full name, current role, firm/organization, and location
                      • Role-Specific Services: e.g., Arbitrator/Mediator services offered, areas of arbitration/mediation, or areas of expertise
                      • Credentials: education, degrees, licenses, and certifications
                      • Admissions & Qualifications: states or courts a professional is admitted or qualified to appear before
                      • Challenge History: for expert witnesses, prior Daubert/challenge outcomes, including case caption, court, date, disposition, and retaining party
                      • Judicial Opinions: for judges, relevant rulings or opinions on file
                      • Case Data: cases a professional has been involved in, including case name, court, and outcome
                      • Profile Link: a direct link to the full CI profile for further review
                      • "Narrow this to candidates located in [city/state]."
                      • "Only show results with a [specific degree or credential]."
                      • "Filter to only those with challenge history or judicial opinions on file."
                      • "Pull the full profile or case history for [name] from the results above."

Your LLM will use the CI MCP Server to search the People Directory and return matching results.

Step 3: Review the Returned Results

The LLM will surface a list of matching profiles or narrow to a single confirmed match with supporting detail, based on your criteria. Depending on the professional type and data available, results may include:

Note: All information types listed above are subject to availability.

                                                Step 4: Refine Your Search

If you want to narrow your search or ask a related question, you may ask a follow-up question in the same conversation. Your LLM will retain context from the prior query. Examples include:
